Fake Alert Scammer Caught in Ado-Ekiti, Defrauded Victims of Millions

A notorious scammer who allegedly defrauded several individuals using fake alerts has been apprehended by the police in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is accused of using fake alerts to purchase expensive items, including new phones, foodstuffs, vehicles, and other valuable items, totaling millions of naira.

The scammer was caught in the act on Friday at a bus terminal in Ado-Ekiti, while attempting to scam a gadget vendor using the same method he employed in 2023. According to reports, the suspect had purchased iPhones worth 2 million naira from the vendor in 2023 using a fake transfer, prompting a year-long hunt for him.

The Command Spokesman, Sunday Abutu, has requested more time to obtain details of the arrest. The suspect is currently in the custody of the Ekiti State Command, and further investigations are underway.
