Oyebanji Laments Rainstorm Devastation in Ekiti, Vows Government Support for Victims

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed deep concern over the massive destruction caused by recent rainstorms in the state. The storms have left hundreds of citizens homeless and without electricity, with over 300 rooftops blown off in Oye, Ayede, and Ilupeju Ekiti alone.

During an inspection of the affected areas, Oyebanji sympathized with the victims, assuring them that the government would not abandon them to suffer. He emphasized the need for a culture of maintenance on buildings before the rainy season begins, as well as the importance of planting trees around residential areas to prevent such occurrences.

The governor also lamented the damage to electricity facilities, which has left residents without power and hindered the growth of the local economy. He assured the victims that the government would conduct an enumeration of affected buildings and provide necessary support where needed.

Traditional rulers in the affected areas, including the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, Oba David Akingbade, have called on the government to provide aid to those affected by the storms, enabling them to rebuild their structures in a timely manner.
