EKITI COURT THROWS OUT APPEALS OVER OTUN, AYEGBAJU PROPERTY DISPUTES

The Customary Court of Appeal in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has upheld a lower court’s verdict in a dispute over the ownership of a shop at Ilaro Street, Otun-Ekiti. The appeal, filed by Kayode Abidoye, Banji Abolarin, and Mrs. Ashaolu, sought to overturn the original judgement delivered on March 27, 2024, by the Customary Court, Otun-Ekiti, which ruled in favor of Mr. Olanrewaju Adebodun.

In his judgement on March 25, 2025, Hon. Justice Olufolakemi Ogundele of the Customary Court of Appeal, Ado-Ekiti, dismissed the appeal in its entirety, affirming that the decision of the lower court was correct and did not occasion a miscarriage of justice.

This development comes after another appeal was thrown out by the same court on March 5, 2025, due to an incompetent notice of appeal. In that case, the appellant, Segun Owolabi, had failed to file the notice of appeal within the stipulated 14-day period, rendering the appeal invalid.
