Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa, were given a rousing welcome in Benin City, the state capital, after the election petition tribunal affirmed their victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election.
The Governor’s motorcade from the airport to the palace of the Oba of Benin was met with cheers from residents, who came out in large numbers to celebrate the tribunal’s decision. Governor Okpebholo and his entourage paid homage to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare ll, thanking him for his prayers and support.
The Governor assured the people of Edo State that his administration will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that they enjoy the dividends of democracy. He also thanked the judges for their unanimous decision in his favour, stating that the tribunal’s verdict was a victory for the people of Edo State.
The Oba of Benin Kingdom praised Governor Okpebholo, describing him as a traditional son of the palace. The Monarch personally prayed for the Governor’s success, noting that he has been working hard to develop the state.
