A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has remanded a 20-year-old woman, Joy Ikoja, for allegedly attempting to cut off her boyfriend’s manhood. The incident occurred on April 12 at around 8:00 pm in the Irona area of Ado-Ekiti, where Ikoja reportedly inflicted a wound on Ibrahim Usman’s scrotal sac.

The Ekiti State Police Command arraigned Ikoja before the court, charging her with unlawfully inflicting wounds and conducting herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace. The prosecutor, Inspector Adeboye Adesegun, cited sections of the Ekiti State Criminal Laws 2021, which prescribe punishment for the offense.

Ikoja’s counsel, Barrister David Ogbede, applied for bail, arguing that his client was presumed innocent and would not jump bail. However, the prosecutor opposed the application, citing concerns that Ikoja might abscond due to discrepancies in her name in a previous court case.

Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola refused bail and remanded Ikoja in correctional custody in Ado-Ekiti, adjourning the case until April 22 for further hearing.
