The Ekiti State Government has announced that it has successfully vaccinated 226,429 eligible girls in the state against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), an infection believed to be a leading cause of cervical cancer.
The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ sensitization meeting on the introduction of Measles Rubella vaccines in Ekiti State.
Dr. Oyebanji praised the success of the HPV immunization exercise, which was flagged off in May 2025, noting that it reached targeted communities and protected children against cervical cancer. The state is now taking proactive steps to sensitize residents ahead of the rollout of Measles Rubella vaccines in October 2025.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, has charged stakeholders to serve as champions of the vaccination campaigns and urged parents and guardians to ensure their children are properly immunized against deadly diseases.
