Ekiti Govt, NASSCO Launch Update of Social Register for Existing Households

The Ekiti State Government, in partnership with the National Social Safety Coordinating Office (NASSCO), has embarked on an update of its Social Register for existing households across all Local Government Areas of the state. According to the State Coordinator of the Social Register Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Mr. Abiodun Ariyo, the exercise aims to align with the Federal Government’s requirements, particularly the integration of National Identification Numbers (NINs) into the database.

Mr. Ariyo clarified that this phase is exclusively for updating information of households already captured in the current State Social Register, and not for new registrations. He urged all previously registered households to cooperate with SOCU officials and enumerators when they visit their communities for the exercise. The State Coordinator emphasized that the State Social Register is designed to support poor and vulnerable citizens, serving as a critical tool for accessing intervention programs by both the state and federal governments.

Mr. Ariyo appealed to community leaders and relevant stakeholders to mobilize support to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the update exercise. The update is expected to enhance the effectiveness of social safety nets and intervention programs in the state, ultimately benefiting the most vulnerable members of society.
