Team Ekiti has been making waves at the 22nd National Sports Festival, Gateway Games 2025, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. As of May 29, 2025, the team has earned an impressive total of 16 medals, comprising 2 gold, 3 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
The athletes have showcased exceptional skill and determination across various sports, including powerlifting, judo, tennis, traditional games, weightlifting, kickboxing, golf, gymnastics, and athletics.
Adetolu Christianah and Joshua Olaniyi have brought glory to the state by winning gold medals in female para-power lifting and men’s category para-athletics shot put, respectively. Other notable performances include Tope Olufemi, Akinola Boluwatife, and Elijah Oluwafemi, who won silver medals in weightlifting and judo.
The bronze medalists include Abayomi Adeleye in weightlifting, Tope Olufemi in kickboxing, Olaniyi Adeyinkya and Bamikole Paul in men’s tennis doubles, Omolara Yaya and Omolara Ajayi in Ayo women’s doubles, Prudent Wilfred in Kungfu, Benedict Adaobi in gymnastics, Awokunle Seun Ojo in men’s tennis singles, and Daniel Adeleye and Ogunjobi Success in mixed doubles tennis.
