In a bid to maintain peace and stability in the Fayose Market in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Government has indefinitely postponed the election of new leadership and extended the tenure of the Caretaker Committee by six months.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mr. M.A. Falua, the decision was made to avert any potential disruption in market operations and ensure a peaceful environment. The five-member Caretaker Committee, which was initially appointed to serve for three months, will now continue in office until November 28, 2025.
The committee has been tasked with developing a comprehensive constitution that promotes the well-being and justice for all stakeholders, and is expected to discharge its duties with transparency, fairness, and commitment to peaceful co-existence in the market.
The committee members, led by Chairman Adeleye Adekunle Samuel, are expected to work tirelessly to ensure the market’s administration is guided by principles of justice and equity.
