A devastating incident has occurred in Iye Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, where a farmer has accidentally shot his 15-year-old son to death with a gun.
According to the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, the incident happened when the father, who has chosen to remain anonymous, went to his farm with his son to work.
The farm had been terrorized by monkeys, and while working, the father spotted movement in a tree, mistaking his son for a monkey, and fired a shot.
The son fell from the tree and unfortunately, succumbed to the injuries. The father has been invited by the authorities for further questioning regarding the tragic incident.
