APC, PDP EXPRESS CONFIDENCE AS INEC RELEASES 2026 EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION TIMELINES

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have expressed optimism about achieving victory in the 2026 governorship election following the release of the timetable and guidelines by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). INEC has scheduled June 20, 2026, for the governorship election and set the period between October 20 and November 10, 2025, for political parties to conduct primaries to select their candidates.

The APC publicity secretary, Segun Dipe, said the ruling party received INEC’s announcement with enthusiasm, noting that the party is poised to secure an overwhelming victory. According to him, the APC administration has positively impacted the lives of the people and would be rewarded with another term of four years. Dipe expressed confidence in the governor’s ability, citing his achievements across major sectors of the economy, which have been acknowledged by both local and international organizations.

On the other hand, the caretaker chairman of the PDP, Dare Adeleke, said the opposition party would approach the election with the sole aim of dislodging the APC government in the state, which he claimed has failed the people of Ekiti. Adeleke stated that the PDP is in the process of completing its congresses, with only the state congress remaining, and called on members to unite and prepare for the task ahead. Both parties are gearing up for what promises to be a closely contested election.
