ABUAD Achieves Full NUC Accreditation for 13 Programmes Across Four Colleges

Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) has received a significant boost with the National Universities Commission (NUC) granting full accreditation to 13 of its undergraduate programmes. The accredited programmes span four key colleges: Engineering, Medicine & Health Sciences, Sciences, and Social & Management Sciences.

The programmes that have received full accreditation include Civil, Computer, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Petroleum Engineering; Medicine & Surgery and Dentistry; Industrial Chemistry and Agriculture; and Intelligence & Security Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, and Political Science.

According to the Director of Corporate Affairs, Tunde Olofintila, the accreditation exercise was conducted in October and November 2024, and the approval is valid for five years. The Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Babalola, expressed immense joy at the development, describing it as “another milestone in the history of our university.”

Babalola attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of students, faculty, parents, and regulatory bodies, highlighting ABUAD’s impressive ratings in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. The acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olasupo A. Ijabadeniyi, also praised the accreditation milestone, saying it reinforces ABUAD’s reputation as the number one university in Nigeria.

The accreditation is seen as a significant boost to the university’s mission to reform functional education in Nigeria, focusing on quality, service, discipline, and innovation.
