Oyebanji Sets June 23 Deadline for Roadside Traders to Relocate to New Market

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has given roadside traders in Ado-Ekiti a two-week ultimatum to relocate to the newly completed ultra-modern Agric Olope Market. The governor made this directive known during a meeting with market women at the Palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized the need for order and safety in the city, citing health and safety hazards associated with street trading. He assured traders that his administration is committed to making life better for citizens and transforming Ado Ekiti into a smart and modern city.

The newly completed market boasts modern facilities, including water supply, toilets, good roads, security infrastructure, warehouses, and solar lighting for night trading. Traders have been urged to begin obtaining forms for shop allocation, with the government assuring a transparent and fair process.

Defaulters will face the full weight of the law, the governor warned, while expressing optimism that traders will comply with the directive. The Ewi of Ado Ekiti and other stakeholders have backed the governor’s initiative, citing its potential to promote city growth and development.
