EKITI TIPPER, QUARRY UNION REDUCES SERVICE CHARGE ON SAND, GRAVEL

The Ekiti State chapter of the Tipper and Quarry Employers of Nigeria has announced a reduction of ₦5,000 in the service charge on loads of sand and gravel supplied by members of the union to the public across the state. This decision follows a meeting between the association and representatives of the state government, led by the Director-General of the Bureau of Local Content, Mr. Olalekan Ijidale.

The state chairman of the union, Hon. Adameji Olabanji, disclosed that the reduction applies to every trip, regardless of the location of the construction site, and is a strategic move to encourage contractors, artisans, and individuals engaged in construction and development projects to continue patronizing the union. The union’s decision is in line with the Ekiti State Local Content Law, which mandates contractors handling government projects to source building materials and manpower services locally.

The price reduction is mandatory and binding on all members of the union, and any member found violating the agreement may face sanctions. The union assured clients that the price adjustment would not compromise the quality and efficiency of the services rendered by its members.

The Director-General of the Bureau of Local Content, Mr. Ijidale, commended the union’s decision and assured that the Oyebanji administration would continue to prioritize the use of local resources, workforce, and businesses in the execution of state contracts and projects. In a related development, the Ekiti State chapter of the Tipper and Quarry Employers of Nigeria has pledged to continue releasing its tippers for waste evacuation at no cost to sanitation officials on all designated environmental days, as part of its contribution to the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji-led administration’s “Operation Keep Ekiti Clean” agenda.
