The Iluomoba Ekiti – Ijesa-Isu-Ekiti – Ikole Ekiti road has become a source of immense frustration and hardship for commuters, with the journey that once took 20-30 minutes now consuming a grueling 1.5 hours. The Ijesa-Isu-Ekiti to Ikole Ekiti section is particularly dire, with heavy trucks forced to halt around the Oko Isobo axis during rainfall due to the impassable road conditions.
The situation has rendered the area a virtual “border” where commuters are left with no choice but to resort to okadas, imposing significant financial burdens on indigenes of Ijan Ekiti, Iluomoba Ekiti, Ijesa-Isu-Ekiti, and Ikole Ekiti. These individuals struggle to travel home with their vehicles due to the potential damage the road could cause, as well as the exorbitant transportation costs.
In light of this, a strong call is being made to the Ekiti State Government to intervene and rehabilitate this critical road network. The rehabilitation of this road would not only alleviate the suffering of commuters but also facilitate economic activities in the region, providing much-needed relief to the affected communities.
