FG Outlines Requirements for New Ekiti Varsity Take-Off

The Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission have outlined key facilities needed for the smooth take-off of the newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti. According to the assessment team, the university requires a well-equipped library, official vehicles for principal officers, directors, and deans, as well as additional buses, utility vehicles, and laptops.

During an inspection visit, the team found that some key facilities were already in place, including an ICT building, laboratories, classrooms, clinic, library, boreholes, hostels, and a 500-seater auditorium. The team leader, Mrs. Rakiya Gambo-Ilyasu, expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural development, noting that the community’s willingness to donate land and infrastructure demonstrates their commitment to the university’s success.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUTES, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, presented the university’s physical master plan and Phase One development prototype, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to building a modern, future-ready university. He appealed for partnerships to support the development of key infrastructure and assured that appointments would be based strictly on merit, with computer literacy being a key requirement.

The Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Ajakaye, commended the Federal Government and President Tinubu for siting the university in the University in the town, pledging the community’s full support for the institution’s development.
