The Ekiti State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye as the substantive Chief Judge of the State. The confirmation followed a unanimous vote by the lawmakers after deliberating on his nomination.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, had earlier presented a letter from Governor Biodun Oyebanji requesting the screening and confirmation of Acting Chief Judge Ogunmoye as substantive Chief Judge. Both the Majority Leader, Hon. Tolu Ige, and the Minority Leader, Hon. Oladele Ogunsakin, expressed confidence in Ogunmoye’s ability to drive the judiciary with justice and integrity.
Justice Ogunmoye, who was called to the bar in 1987, has been serving as the Acting Chief Judge of the state since the demise of Justice Ayodeji Adeyeye in November 2024. After his confirmation, he identified technology as a priority instrument to be maximized in the judiciary, promising to ensure quick and truthful dispensation of justice.
