NEMA Brings Relief to Rainstorm Victims in Ekiti

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief packages to victims of recent rainstorms in four Local Government Areas of Ekiti State. The affected areas include Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Oye, and Irepodun/Ifelodun, where residents have been struggling to cope with the aftermath of the disaster.

The relief materials, handed over by NEMA’s Operating Officer in Ado-Ekiti in collaboration with the State Emergency Agency (SEMA), include essential items such as rice, garri, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, spaghetti, iodized salt, and tomato paste. The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by Abogunrin Adesina, expressed sympathy for the affected persons and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing timely and effective disaster response.

The government officials emphasized the need for sensitization and policies to build community resilience against weather-related disasters. The General Manager of Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Asaolu Oludare, appreciated the Federal Government for the timely response, while the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, which will help alleviate the impact of the disaster on their lives.
