A former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) citing the party’s failure to provide a platform for credible opposition and leadership in the country.

Olusola-Eleka, who served under former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s administration from 2014 to 2018 and was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2018 election, announced his departure in a letter dated July 24, 2025.

Olusola-Eleka has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party that has recently gained momentum with the inclusion of high-profile politicians such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

This development is seen as a significant blow to the PDP in Ekiti State and could potentially alter the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
