The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), recently celebrated its 54th Convocation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of thousands of students. The ceremony was presided over by the distinguished Chairman of the Governing Council, Engr. Kayode Ojo, a proud son of Ekiti State. Engr. Ojo’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming the institution, with notable achievements in academic programs, infrastructural development, and international collaborations.
During the convocation, Engr. Ojo emphasized the critical role UNN plays in nurturing future leaders and advancing knowledge globally. He urged graduates to embody the university’s enduring Lion spirit, while also highlighting the importance of preserving African culture and heritage.
The university conferred degrees and diplomas on 9,821 students, including 167 First Class Honours, 3,485 Second Class Upper Division, and 616 PhD degrees.
In a show of solidarity and Ekiti brotherhood, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele was spotted with Engr. Kayode Ojo at the convocation ceremony, underscoring their shared commitment to promoting academic excellence and community development. Also in attendance was Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, CON, FCIB, the CEO of Premium Trust Bank.
Engr. Ojo’s vision for UNN extends beyond academics, with a strong focus on sustaining African cultural scholarship and positioning the university as a hub of learning, culture, and global relevance.
