The Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Women’s Wing has elected a new executive team to lead for the next three years following a quadrennial delegates conference held at the NLC secretariat in Ado Ekiti. Comrade Rachael Bade-Gboyega of the Medical Health Workers Union emerged as the new chairperson, winning decisively with 70 votes against the incumbent Comrade Davis Roseline’s 29.
The elections also saw Comrade Kemi Ogunmodede of JUSUN appointed vice chairperson and Comrade Aderonke Adegboyega of NASU securing the secretary position. Other executive members include Comrade Victoria Adeeko as assistant secretary, with Comrades Olasunkanmi Adu and Morayo Ajaayi serving as ex-officio members.
The returning officer, Mrs Martina Njoku, urged the new officers to be inclusive and bring everyone along for the good of the women’s wing, while the Ekiti State NLC Chairman, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, charged them to justify the confidence placed in them and to prioritise members’ welfare.
Comrade Bade-Gboyega thanked the delegates for their support and pledged to diligently fulfil her duties.
