PRESS RELEASE: THE KAYODE OJO CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION DELIVERS POWERFUL MESSAGE TO THE PUBLIC AHEAD OF EKITI APC PRIMARY

PRESS RELEASE BY THE KAYODE OJO CAMPAIGN ORGANISATION.

Gentlemen of the Press,

It gives me great pleasure to address you this afternoon as our dear State moves closer to an off-cycle election. As you are already aware, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed the gubernatorial primary election of our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC for October 26, 2025, signalling the beginning of the electoral process leading to the Ekiti State Gubernatorial Election in 2026.

In line with the rules and regulations guiding the exercise, Engr. Kayode Ojo like any other aspirant in the governorship race has begun mobilizing party supporters at the grassroots in order to win their votes at the forthcoming primary elections.

As true democrats, we have been carrying out the exercise with decency and intensity, devoid of character assassination and any acts of thuggery, buoyed by our resolve to rescue the Ekiti State from economic bondage and political servitude.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Our deep concern is fueled by the inexplicable stagnation ravaging Ekiti State despite the huge monthly allocation from the Federation Account as well as the State’s potential for development and growth.

Our concern is not out of place. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has severally admonished state governors to justify the unprecedented fiscal inflow into states with visible development results.

Recently, at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the President charged the governors elected on the platform of the APC to redouble their efforts in delivering development at the grassroots, saying many Nigerians were still dissatisfied with the pace of governance and the benefits of democracy. According to the President, “We need to do more. Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots. You, the governors, have to wet the ground and give more dividends of democracy at the grassroots. We must not rest. Our people need to feel the impact of government more directly.”

Against the backdrop of the above, the present administration under the leadership of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji owes the Citizenry the duty of ensuring that developmental projects dot every nook and cranny of Ekiti state, in line with the President’s “RENEWED HOPE” AGENDA.

As at June 2025, the governor had so far received N286.23 Billion naira from the Federation Account and this humongous amount is exclusive of the allocation to all the SIXTEEN local government areas.

From the figures obtained from the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, each local government area in Ekiti State receives nothing less than N380 million naira every month, amounting to a whooping N6.5 BILLION NAIRA every month. This is apart from internally generated revenue collected so far which amount to over 70 Billion Naira. Obviously the internally generated revenue cannot be accounted for as it is reportedly squandered on the payment of monthly allowances to former governors of the State who each allegedly receive between N50 Million and N120 Million naira from the Permanent Secretary in the Governor’s Office.

We also have it on good authority that the Governor who lives like an emperor has mortgaged the future of Ekiti State with another N90 Billion Naira Loan BOND facilitated by the duo of one KAYODE FALOWO of GREENWICH TRUST LIMITED in connivance with OTUNBA NIYI ADEBAYO, a former governor of Ekiti State, and approved by the rubber stamp Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The million dollar question is this: What has the State Government done with this massive inflow of funds?

Additionally, why are these funds not being committed to the rehabilitation of the entire road network in Ekiti State, to ensure accessibility and security which will in turn lead to prosperity for the Citizenry?

Lamentably, 90% of communities in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital are without motorable roads and electricity supply while the white elephant overhead bridge project in the state capital is now stalled for paucity of funds.

How has Governor Alex Otti of Abia State who came into office at almost the same time as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji managed to execute so many meaningful and impactful projects for his people including an Integrated Energy infrastructure for Aba?

In Ekiti State, local government areas are the worst hit with no visible projects to parade except for the commissioning of a N15 Million Naira secretariat GATE at Ikere Ekiti.

We have also challenged the governor to make public, all monies spent on his road projects because we are aware that the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP is being used as conduit pipe to syphon public funds, and this has been met with stiff resistance.

WORKERS’ WELFARE

The present government can only boast of paying workers’ leave bonus of 2018 while arrears of gratuity of pensioners are yet to be paid. All these are few examples of maladministration in Ekiti state.

Our intention is to expose more instances of maladministration as soon as we progress in the journey of liberating Ekiti state from political and economic bondage.

As a ploy to divert public attention from economic stagnation inflicted on our dear state, on July 28, 2025, the governor and his cohorts squandered over N20 Billion naira on ENDORSEMENT RALLIES where long-suffering workers, artisans and other interest groups were coerced into asking the governor to run for another term.

SIGNS OF DESPERATION
Governor Biodun Oyebanji who claims to be a popular candidate in the gubernatorial race is no doubt faced with the reality of his waning popularity among his own political appointees, as evidenced by his inglorious media outing where he admitted ‘scarcity of loyalty’ in his camp while openly accusing his appointees of disloyalty, and excoriating them of throwing their weight behind Engr Kayode Ojo.

The governor’s desperation has also led to the issuance of threats to local government chairmen, APC chairmen in each local government and APC ward executives not to welcome or entertain any other gubernatorial aspirant.

To us in Engineer Kayode Ojo’s camp, this threat is not only ludicrous but also vexatious, and aptly demonstrates to all and sundry that the governor intends to turn the APC into his private fiefdom and family inheritance. We wish to remind Mr Governor that APC belongs to all of us and it is on record that Engineer Kayode Ojo, a committed party man and prominent party member, has spent a fortune to nurture APC to an enviable height in Ekiti State.

The public is also reminded that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s intolerance of innocuous democratic activities reached another dimension with the series of attacks on our supporters at Moba, Igede, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ado-Ekiti Local Governments and other parts of the State.

Our members were picked up at different locations and charged for fictitious offences which include armed robbery and kidnapping.

We therefore use this medium to call on the Inspector General of Police, the AIG Zone 17, the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State and Area Commanders in Ekiti State to provide a level playing ground for all members of the APC to choose and follow their preferred aspirants preparatory to the APC Gubernatorial Primary Elections.

We equally plead with the leadership of the APC in Ekiti State to eschew partisanship and embrace all gubernatorial aspirants as one in the APC Family.

We also plead with our Father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of our great Party to caution Governor Biodun Oyebanji against ordering the arrest, harassment and maiming of APC members in Ekiti State. The forthcoming primary election is not a do or die affair.

We enjoin the Governor to stop acting like a bull in a china shop which is unbecoming of the high office he presently occupies. He must shed the toga of an autocrat and start behaving like a democrat.

He must resist the overwhelming temptation to subvert, enfeeble or destroy the same democratic precepts and tenets that facilitated his emergence as Governor.

On our part, the commitment to the Ekiti Project under the Engineer Kayode Ojo Movement is unwavering and we will resist all attempts to intimidate us or stifle every move at ensuring transparency in governance till Ekiti state is liberated through the gubernatorial primary election slated for October 26, 2025.

To our supporters, we urge you to remain steadfast, law abiding and patriotic and unshakably loyal to the cause by stepping up mobilization efforts across the sixteen local governments of the State without any fear as the day of liberation draws nearer.
