Academic staff at Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have embarked on an indefinite strike over unpaid salaries, further heightening tension within the institution.

In a formal letter dated 11th September 2025, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) FUOYE branch informed the Acting Vice-Chancellor that strike action would commence if salaries were not paid by the 3rd of each month. The union indicated that the strike would continue comprehensively until the outstanding salaries are settled.

Signed by the branch Chairperson, Comrade Fagbuagun O.A., and Financial Secretary, Comrade Ngwu Benitho, the letter appeals for understanding from the university administration while reinforcing members’ resolve to press for their rights.

This industrial action underscores the urgent need for the university and government to resolve financial challenges and restore normal academic operations.
