Lere Olayinka: Fayemi’s Damage Control in Ekiti Is Too Little, Too Late

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT minister and former aide to ex-Governor Ayo Fayose, has sharply criticised former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi in a recent statement. He said Governor Biodun Oyebanji enjoys support at all hours, unlike Fayemi, who is now left with only “late night (pajawiri)” backers as others have moved on.

Olayinka accused Fayemi of betraying those who helped him become governor twice and said he envies the strong political support that Oyebanji currently commands.

He stated he openly supports Oyebanji’s reelection, following his political leader Ayodele Fayose’s directive, and praised Oyebanji for governing fairly without persecuting critics like Fayemi’s administration did.

Olayinka said Fayemi’s attempts to use Fayose to repair his image and to impress Oyebanji would fail, noting the contradiction in opposing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection while supporting Oyebanji.

He concluded that Fayemi’s political betrayals will continue to haunt him and that with Oyebanji’s expected reelection, Fayemi will face total political humiliation, while patriotic Ekitis will continue to give Oyebanji the true support Fayemi never intended.
