Dr Funso Ayeni has officially entered the governorship race in Ekiti State after a coalition of Ekiti indigenes in the diaspora purchased the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form on his behalf.
The Continental Coalition of Ekiti in Diaspora (COCOED), representing members across the UK, Canada, Asia, Australia, and the US, declared full support for Ayeni, citing growing political crises undermining governance and development in Ekiti.
Speaking at an emergency virtual meeting, Mr Ayodele Daini from the Canada chapter said the group unanimously agreed to intervene by supporting Ayeni, whom they described as the most credible, unifying, and experienced candidate.
He hailed Ayeni as a fresh breath of leadership, clean, well-educated, and unbiased, urging political stakeholders and traditional rulers to rally behind his candidacy as the best hope for peace and progress in the state.Β
