As Nigeria celebrated World Teachers’ Day 2025, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji honoured outstanding educators, with Mr Ipinlaye Ojo Isaiah recognised as Best Teacher in Private Secondary Schools.

Mr Ipinlaye, a Geology graduate and certified Chemistry teacher at Samclara Group of Schools, Omuooke Ekiti, shared how his passion for teaching sparked from a simple secondary school quote, “By teaching, we learn.”

Over 25 years, he has innovated by using play to make Chemistry engaging and employs peer learning to support struggling students.

Describing his award as a divine moment of fulfilment, Mr Ipinlaye revealed his new title in the community: “the best teacher,” a testament to his impact.

He credits his former teachers for inspiring his dedication and urges colleagues to study hard, research thoroughly, and build friendly student relationships.

Despite challenges like workload and limited funding in private schools, he remains motivated by a deep passion to change lives rather than financial gain.

His proudest moments include seeing three former students graduate with first-class degrees, cementing his legacy as a role model and inspiration in Ekiti’s educational landscape.
