Ekiti State came alive on Friday as the government, alongside the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Ekiti Chapter, and key agricultural players, celebrated World Egg Day 2025 with great enthusiasm at The Pavilion, Fajuyi Park, Ado-Ekiti. The occasion gathered farmers, nutrition advocates, and policymakers united in recognising eggs as vital for nutrition and economic growth.
Speaking for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Ebenezer Boluwade, highlighted that the year’s theme, “The Mighty Egg: Packed with Natural Nutrition”, closely mirrors the state’s ambition for better nutrition and sustainable agriculture.
Boluwade affirmed the government’s firm commitment to enhancing local poultry production and tackling malnutrition, emphasising that eggs are affordable, nutrient-packed, and a cornerstone of Ekiti’s agricultural economy.
He also revealed ongoing state initiatives aimed at empowering poultry farmers, boosting veterinary care, and expanding access to quality feed and vaccines, all geared towards securing the state’s food future.
