In a recent development ahead of the 2025 Ekiti State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of a significant change in its primary election process.

Originally set to feature two aspirants—Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo—the party announced that Mrs Omolayo has voluntarily withdrawn from the race.

In her withdrawal letter, Mrs Omolayo endorsed Governor Oyebanji as the consensus candidate and pledged support for any consensus nomination in line with the Electoral Act 2022 and APC’s constitution.

This move effectively leaves Governor Oyebanji as the sole candidate for the APC governorship primary, simplifying the road to his re-election bid.
