On Tuesday 21st October, 2025, the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Education convened a stakeholders’ meeting at the Assembly Complex to deliberate on the pending Transmutation Bill, which seeks to upgrade the Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology (COHESTI) to a full‑fledged polytechnic.
The meeting, held in response to an invitation extended to the college management, featured a delegation led by the Governing Council Chairman, Dr. ‘Femi Thomas, who commended the committee members for their relentless effort in keeping education at the forefront of the state’s governance agenda.
He also thanked the lawmakers for inviting the management to “dot the i’s and cross the t’s,” a step he said is vital for a seamless transmutation process.

The session focused on reviewing the bill’s provisions, addressing legislative requirements, and outlining next steps to ensure the transmutation proceeds without hitches.
The college management expressed optimism that the collaborative effort between the Assembly and stakeholders will soon see COHESTI attain polytechnic status, thereby expanding academic opportunities for students and strengthening technical education in Ekiti State
