HRM Oba Johnson Bamigbade JP, the Elerio of Erio Ekiti, played gracious host to a throng of guests hailing from near and far at the much-anticipated Erio Ekiti Day Celebration, which doubled as the lively EDU Erio Ekiti Carnival on Saturday, 25th October 2025. The event, pulsating with traditional rhythms, colourful parades, and heartfelt reunions, unfolded against the backdrop of the Palace Ground on Igbana Street in Erio-Ekiti, transforming the historic site into a hub of festivity that honoured the community’s enduring heritage and spirit.
Under the watchful eye of the revered monarch, the carnival served as a grand tapestry of Ekiti’s rich traditions, featuring music, dance performances, and interactive stalls that showcased local crafts, cuisine, and stories passed down through generations. Guests, including alumni, dignitaries, and families, mingled freely, forging new bonds and rekindling old ones in an atmosphere brimming with laughter and shared memories, all while paying homage to Erio Ekiti’s pivotal role in the state’s cultural landscape.
Orchestrating the seamless spectacle was a dedicated organising team, led by Elder Akin Adeniji as National President of EDU, alongside Engr. Idris Lawal as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Hon. Moses Omojola as Co-Chairman, and Hon. Waheed Ope Fagbami as Secretary. Their meticulous efforts ensured every detail—from logistical arrangements to safety measures—contributed to an unforgettable day that not only celebrated the town’s identity but also reinforced community ties ahead of future gatherings.
As the sun set on the palace grounds, attendees departed with hearts full, already looking forward to the next chapter in Erio Ekiti’s vibrant legacy.
