Businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has stirred public reactions with a bold promise that 1,000 Ekiti residents will receive ₦1 million each every month once his preferred candidate becomes the next governor of Ekiti State.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, said the plan would ensure that 48,000 Ekiti indigenes benefit from the initiative within four years.
“Our next incoming governor in Ekiti will be giving 1,000 people ₦1 million every month,” Fayose declared.
“Don’t ask me where we are going to get the money from. We have put it together. That means in four years — which is 48 months — 48,000 Ekiti people living in Ekiti will have ₦1 million in their account. Person wey never see ₦1 million before go see am now,” he said.
Fayose, who described the movement as a “liberation project,” urged residents to register their names and account details, claiming a link would soon be shared for interested participants.
“We will be paying 1,000 people living in Ekiti ₦1 million every month. Let your name be in the book. Relax your mind. Liberation time. Liberation high. Join the movement,” he added.
While Fayose did not disclose the identity of the “incoming governor” or the source of the proposed funds, his statement has sparked mixed reactions online — with some describing it as unrealistic populism, while others hailed it as a “revolutionary welfare plan.”
