80th Birthday, 35th Coronation Anniversary: Various groups, Chiefs, Market women pay homage to Ewi of Ado Ekiti

Ado-Ekiti witnessed a vibrant display of culture, community spirit, and royal honour as various groups, chiefs and market women paid homage to Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe in celebration of his 80th birthday and 35th coronation anniversary.

The traditional Chiefs, Ado Ekiti Progressive Union members, clubs, ethnic groups including Igbos, Hausas and all other well wisher were all in the palace to honour the monarch whose reign has brought tremendous development to the town as their tributes underscored the Ewi’s longstanding influence and his role as a unifying figure in Ado-Ekiti.

In his remark, Oba Adejugbe expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ado-Ekiti for their loyalty and support ever since he ascended the throne of his forefathers thirty five years ago.

Speaking at the colourful event, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prince Segun Famuagun who appreciated the monarch for his guidance, equally thanked the Chiefs, the various groups and everybody that came to celebrate with the royal father.

He noted that the turnout reflected the love the people have for the Ewi and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining harmony in the kingdom.

The programme continues today with a cultural colloquium where Professor Akindele Adetoye will be the keynote speaker starting from ten o’clock in the morning, after which there will be scholarship awards for brilliant indigent students.

On Saturday, there will be launching of a book titled “Reflections of a Monarch; 35 years of service” which will be reviewed by Professor Yusuf Ali and conferment of chieftaincy titles on prominent individuals billed for noon at the Ewi ‘s palace.

The activities will be concluded on Sunday with a special church service to celebrate the 80th birthday of the monarch at Emmanuel Anglican Cathedral Okesa Ado-Ekiti by 10am, with President Bola Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour.
