I, Dr. Leye Adeniji, the Executive Chairman of Ekameta LCDA in Erijiyan Ekiti, hereby formally refute the rumors and false alarms circulating about an alleged kidnapping incident in Ekameta LCDA, specifically in Erijiyan Ekiti, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, purportedly involving suspected Fulani herdsmen or Boko Haram.

This information is entirely baseless, unfounded, and without any element of truth.

To clarify the situation, a comprehensive investigation and questioning were conducted by security personnel with pupils, as well as several farmers and hunters in the area.

It was determined that a small number of pupils from a private school in Erijiyan reported seeing two men carrying firearms on their backs and holding machetes, who were washing their hands in a stream near the school.

Upon noticing the pupils, the individuals fled. Given the menโ€™s attire and the prevailing security concerns in the town, the pupils mistakenly believed they were Boko Haram members or bandits and ran away.

When the pupils returned to the school, they reported having seen kidnappers, which initiated the spread of this misinformation throughout the town and neighboring communities, falsely suggesting that kidnappers were attacking residents.

We promptly took action, mobilizing over one hundred security personnel, including the Nigerian Police, the Army, NSCDC, SIB, DSS, Agro Marshals, Amotekun, and local hunters.

โ€œAfter conducting an extensive search of the surrounding bushland, no individuals or suspicious items were found. Nevertheless, we continue to enhance security measures, with all stakeholders actively engaged in strengthening the security framework of Ekiti State.

It is important to emphasize that security is a collective responsibility. We urge everyone to report any unusual activities or unfamiliar individuals immediately.

I advise the public to remain calm and proceed with their lawful duties and daily routines without apprehension.

His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, is taking decisive and comprehensive actions to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property in Ekiti.

I extend my gratitude to all security personnel for their swift response, courage, and proactive efforts. The peace we have experienced in Ekiti under the leadership of Governor BAO will be sustained.

Signed
DR Leye Adeniji
Chairman, Ekameta LCDA , Erijiyan Ekiti.

  1. Where’s the whereabouts of the two individuals seen with guns and matchets as claimed by the Chairman?…Those two individuals are up to something negative in the town.
