The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a directive to all its state councils to mobilise for a nationwide protest against insecurity, scheduled for December 17, 2025. In a statement signed by Comrade Benson Upah, Acting General Secretary, the NLC called on all affiliate unions, workers, and members of the general public to participate in the protest.
The NLC instructed its state councils to work closely with Labour-Civil Society Coalitions and other progressive groups to ensure a united, peaceful, and well-coordinated protest rally. The Congress also directed its state councils to put in place all necessary logistical and organisational arrangements to guarantee effective participation.
The protest is in response to the growing insecurity in the country, and the NLC is committed to ensuring a successful action. The NLC assured its members and the general public of its commitment to the welfare and safety of Nigerian workers and people.
