The Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Dr. Adekunle Adeagbo, has posthumously honoured the late Chief Imam of Otun, Alhaji Badmus Adebayo Ajekigbe, for his enduring legacy of peace, tolerance, and selfless service to humanity. The award ceremony formed part of activities marking the monarch’s fifth coronation anniversary.
Alhaji Ajekigbe, a revered Islamic scholar and peace advocate, was known for his tireless efforts to promote unity, patience, and dialogue among people of different faiths. He was a key figure in maintaining peace and stability in the community, and his legacy continues to inspire many.
The monarch described Alhaji Ajekigbe as a lover of peace and a tireless advocate of harmonious coexistence, noting that his leadership transcended religious boundaries and earned him widespread respect. The ceremony also recognised five living legends and community ambassadors for their contributions to the development of Otun.
The event featured a special Juma’ah prayer, a fundraising drive, and traditional dance performances. The monarch and worshippers paid tribute to Alhaji Ajekigbe’s memory, expressing gratitude for the peace, unity, and developmental progress the community has witnessed over the past five years.
