The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 24-year-old man, Jamie Sulaiman, before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of dangerous driving that led to the death of one Oluwakoremide Ibukunola.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on December 2, 2025, the defendant was operating a white TVS Neo motorcycle (Registration No: Ekiti ADK 468 QD) in front of the Ilawe Motor Park in the Adere area of Ado-Ekiti.
“The defendant did negligently ride the motorcycle on the highway in a dangerous manner, without regard for the circumstances, nature, condition or volume of traffic and dangerously knocked down and caused the death of 40-year-old Oluwakoremide Ibukunola.”
Inspector Oriyomi noted that the defendant was operating the motorcycle on a public highway without a valid driver’s licence.
The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under Sections 18(1), 7(1), and 34, Volume 4 of the Road Traffic Law (RTL) of Ekiti State, 2011.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Opeyemi Esan, prayed the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned to January 30, 2026.
