Group of Newly Employed Ekiti Teachers Appeal for Mercy Over Exclusion from Biometric List

A group of newly recruited teachers in Ekiti State are facing an uncertain future after being excluded from a biometric capturing exercise due to a lack of education degrees. The affected staff, who were appointed by the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), are now appealing to the Board of Directors for mercy and a second chance.

The affected staff explained that they had enrolled for PGDE programmes after assuming duty, in compliance with service expectations. They also stated that they had relocated to their assigned duty posts, incurring significant financial commitments and debts in the process.

The teachers are now facing severe emotional, financial, and psychological hardship due to their exclusion from the biometric exercise, which is a crucial step in the employment process. They are appealing to the Board to grant them a two-year probationary period within which they can complete and submit the required education qualifications.

The affected staff are urging the Board to temper justice with mercy and consider their plight, given their dedication and hard work since their appointment. They believe that granting them a second chance would be a humane and just decision.
