EKIRS Empowers Staff through Training for Enhanced Taxpayer Engagement

The Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) recently hosted a staff training session at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House Grounds, Ado-Ekiti, focusing on enhancing taxpayer engagement and service delivery. The training aimed to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service, address taxpayer concerns, and promote voluntary compliance.

EKIRS Executive Chairman, Mr. Olaniran Olatona, emphasized the importance of capacity building and staff development, thanking employees for their contributions to increasing revenue in the state. The training sessions covered various topics, including EKTIN registration, tax reform bills, and guidelines issued by the FIRS. Key individuals, such as Mr. David Alao, Mrs. Bosede Oluboyo, and Mr. Adekunle Bayo-Fati, presented these topics.

A highlight of the training was a series of drama plays illustrating real-life taxpayer engagement scenarios, demonstrating effective communication techniques, empathy, and problem-solving strategies. Role-plays represented daily activities and experiences of staff across tax stations and in the field.

The training concluded with a mini-sendoff ceremony for Mr. Abubakar Abdulsalam, who was praised for his professionalism, compassion, and expertise. Through this training, staff gained a deeper understanding of providing excellent customer service and building trust with taxpayers. The goal is to create a more taxpayer-centric organization, and this training was a significant step towards achieving that objective.

Key management personnel, including Mr. Joseph Olorunfemi, Mr. Fatai Badmus, and Mrs. Oluwasade Daramola, attended the training, which was well-received by staff who valued the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. The interactive approach, including drama plays, proved to be a resounding success, helping staff develop essential skills for effective taxpayer engagement.
