FUTES, Iyin Ekiti Opens Doors for Partnerships in Technology and Innovation

Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, Vice Chancellor of the newly minted Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES) in Iyin Ekiti, has urged individuals, groups, and organisations to join hands in elevating technology and academic prowess across Nigeria, positioning the institution as a beacon for self-reliant progress.

Speaking at a programme in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Aribisala emphasised that FUTES is primed for partnerships to lay robust foundations for transformative change, declaring, “We have started laying the foundation for meaningful changes in technology, and we want people to support us to achieve the lofty dream.”

Aribisala highlighted Nigeria’s untapped potential to rival developed nations in technological advancement, asserting that the country could manufacture life-enhancing products domestically rather than relying on imports. “In fact, we can do it,” he affirmed, outlining FUTES’s vision to cultivate graduates driven by passion for development over mere white-collar pursuits in a world demanding tech-savvy innovators. To realise this, the university has incorporated cutting-edge courses such as Robotics, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Mechatronics alongside traditional programmes, all aimed at creating knowledge that enriches society and bolsters Nigeria’s technological stature.

Renewing appeals for tangible support, the Vice Chancellor invited contributors to fund essential infrastructure like hostels, lecture halls, and classrooms, promising that such endowments would bear their names or evolve through joint ventures. “We are ready to create knowledge, give back to society, and make life meaningful through academic excellence,” he added, underscoring the institution’s commitment to inspiring students and fortifying the nation’s tech landscape.
