Ekiti First Lady Urges Widows to Get PVCs for Continuity of Present Government

The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has called on widows across the state’s 16 local government areas to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). This appeal was made during the distribution of foodstuffs and other essential goods to widows in Ikere, Emure, and Ise local government areas.

Dr. Oyebanji emphasized the importance of having a PVC, describing it as a crucial tool for ensuring the continuity of the present government in the forthcoming elections.

Represented by the Widows, Aged, and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Foundation, Mrs. Kemi Fadairo, the First Lady highlighted that obtaining a PVC is particularly vital for those who have misplaced theirs or registered far from their current residences. With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set to commence registration for the upcoming elections, Dr. Oyebanji’s plea aims to empower widows to participate in the electoral process.

Mrs. Toyin Adepoju, Senior Special Assistant on Political matters to the Governor’s wife, also encouraged the widows to turn out and vote for their preferred candidates on election day. She reminded them to take advantage of the government’s benefits, citing the WAOH pet project, which has been empowering aged citizens in the state. Additionally, Mrs. Adepoju advised the elderly citizens to prioritize their health by eating nutritious food and regularly visiting public healthcare centers.

Through WAOH, Dr. Oyebanji has been making significant impacts in the lives of widows and orphans, providing them with necessary skills, tools, and financial support to enhance their livelihoods. This initiative complements her husband’s vision to reduce poverty among women and children in Ekiti State.
