The Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Damilare Ajayi, has visited flood-affected areas in Ijan-Ekiti to assess the damage and strategize on long-term solutions. We reported on this devastating flood just a few days ago, highlighting the significant impact on homes and livelihoods in the community.

The visit followed a report by concerned resident Mr. Ogunmiloyo Francis, whose home was significantly impacted by the flooding. Hon. Ajayi was accompanied by key council officials, including the Secretary to Gbonyin LCDA, Engineer Olawale Oladele; Head of Council Administration, Engineer Osaloni; and Director of Administration, Bar. Olu Arowolo.
During the visit, the council management team engaged with local residents, including Engr. Thomas ‘Biodun Oguntunji and Mrs. Esther Bosede Olatunji, to gather insights on the residential area and the most effective ways to implement solutions. Proposed solutions include clearing waterways and constructing a bridge to improve drainage and mitigate future flooding risks.

The council is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and will work closely with the community to find sustainable solutions to the challenges posed by flooding. Hon. Ajayi’s visit demonstrates the administration’s dedication to addressing the needs of its people.
