A middle-aged man was apprehended in the early hours of Monday by residents of Aratunsi Street, off Bolajoko, in the Oke Aro area of Akure, over alleged burglary and attempted assault. The suspect broke into a residence occupied by young women around 4:30 a.m. with the intent to steal and allegedly assault the occupants.
However, the intruder was caught after the victims raised an alarm, drawing the attention of local youths who swiftly mobilized and apprehended him at the scene. He was tied to an electricity pole with a rope as residents awaited the arrival of security operatives.
The suspect claimed to be from Ekiti State, but no official confirmation has been made. As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to make a formal statement regarding the incident.
