The Ekiti State Government has dissolved the State Council of Traditional Rulers, which was chaired by the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, HRM, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro, following the expiration of its two-year tenure. The council’s tenure, which began on July 31, 2023, came to an end on July 31, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, the government announced the appointment of the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, HRM, Oba Samuel Adejimi Adu Alagbado, Agirilala II, as the new Chairman of the Council. Oba Adu Alagbado will succeed the outgoing Chairman, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro. The swearing-in ceremony, to be performed by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, will take place at a later date to be announced.
The Ekiti State Government expressed appreciation to the immediate past chairman and members of the council for their partnership with the government in protecting traditional institutions and promoting good governance in the state.
The government also congratulated the new Chairman and wished him well in his new role.
