The Ekiti State Government has approved N200 million for the construction of modular solar-powered irrigation systems at selected farm hubs under the Bring Back Youths into Agriculture Programme.
This initiative aims to modernize agriculture, enhance productivity, and reduce dependence on rain-fed farming. The irrigation systems will utilize perennial water bodies across the state, enabling year-round farming and mitigating risks associated with unpredictable weather patterns.
The solar-powered systems will be deployed to farm hubs in Ose Centre, Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, and Aramoko, where youth-led agricultural activities are thriving.
This investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable agricultural development, aligning with national food security and economic diversification goals.
