Ekiti State Government has urged school principals, head teachers, and classroom teachers to foster inclusive and supportive learning environments that allow every child to reach their full potential despite any challenges they face.
The call came during the official opening of a three-day capacity training for over 1,200 principals, head teachers, education secretaries, and school management committee members in Ado-Ekiti, themed “Inclusive Education as a Transformational Tool for Students’ Success.”
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro, emphasised that while policies are essential, it is the principals and head teachers who are the true agents of change, tasked with ensuring inclusive practices are implemented daily in schools.
She highlighted the administration’s commitment to uplifting disadvantaged and marginalized groups and assured ongoing support for capacity-building programmes to help schools celebrate diversity, nurture empathy, and foster success for all learners. Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, praised Governor Oyebanji for his advocacy for children with disabilities, noting his recognition as Nigeria’s Champion of Disabilities reflects the state’s dedication to breaking barriers and making education accessible to all.
Ekiti’s proactive approach includes deliberate policies, teacher training, and infrastructure adjustments to ensure no child is left behind.
Leaders from various government agencies also applauded the initiative as a bold stride toward strengthening inclusive education in the state.
