The Miss Efon night was one of the weeklong activities of the Efon Alaaye Day 2025. The beauty pageant featured multiple participants and a contest of beauty, culture, and familiarity with current-day trends.
In an interview earlier in the week, the newly-crowned Miss Efon and a student of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Ms. Fadekemi Adetuberu, speaks on the contest and her to-dos as the new title holder.
1. Congratulations, Ms. Fadekemi! How does it feel to be crowned the new Miss Efon?
Thank you so much for the wishes. I feel grateful for the opportunity to represent Efon-Alaaye in such a beautiful way. I am so excited to take on the responsibilities that come with the title and make a positive impact in my community.
2. What motivated you to participate in the Miss Efon pageant? Was it something you had always aspired to do?
I have always been passionate about beauty pageants. When I heard about the Miss Efon pageant, I saw it as an opportunity to showcase my beauty, though it’s been a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. I am thrilled to have been a part of it.
3. The competition involved four contestants. Can you walk us through the experience? What was the atmosphere like backstage and on stage?
Ngl, the experience was exhilarating on stage. The energy was electric, and the pressure of being the first contestant; everything starts from you. It was a fantastic atmosphere that pushed me to do my best in every round.
4. Beyond the glitz, makeups, and glamour, what do you believe was your unique selling point? What aspect of your presentation or personality do you think resonated most with the judges?
I believe my unique selling point was the way I focused on being myself and letting my values and goals speak for me. Also, I could say the cultural presentation struck a chord with the judges.
5. What are your key takeaways from the questions posed to you? I noticed most contestants had a somewhat tough time answering politically related questions. Do you intend to revisit them and others?
The political questions were a little bit challenging, but the on-stage pressure was what came over me, and that was why I missed out some of it, and yes, I’ll revisit them and also learn the value of preparation.
6. Looking back at the process, from preparation to the final moments, what was the most challenging part for you?
The most challenging part was the preparation because I never had it in mind to contest for the pageant this year, so I applied late for it. But staying focused and motivated was key to overcoming the challenges.
7. As Miss Efon, your title comes with a significant responsibility. What is the very first thing on your to-do list? What project or initiative do you intend to kick-start?
One of the first things on my to-do list is to meet the community leaders and stakeholders to discuss potential projects. I am particularly passionate about education, so I plan to kick-start a project that supports children in Efon Alaaye and provides them with resources to excel academically.
8. Our union, the Federation of Efon-Alaaye Students’ Union, and the Efon-Alaaye community, will be looking forward to what you intend to unveil. What specific areas do you intend to focus on during your reign?
During my reign, I intend to focus on education, women’s empowerment and community development.
9. Many aspiring young ladies in Efon-Alaaye look up to a title holder like you. What specific message or advice do you have for them?
My message to my fellow ladies is to believe in themselves and their potential. Don’t be afraid to pursue your dreams, stay focused always.
10. How do you plan to balance your new role as Miss Efon with your academic responsibilities at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti?
I have planned to create a schedule that allows me to fulfil my duties as Miss Efon while also dedicating sufficient time to my studies.
11. What do you anticipate as the major hurdles or challenges you might face during your reign, and how do you plan to overcome them?
I anticipate challenges such as time management, balancing multiple responsibilities and navigating complex community issues. And I will overcome them by staying focused, prioritising my tasks, and seeking guidance from mentors and community leaders.
12. How can the Federation of Efon-Alaaye Students’ Union support your tenure to ensure you achieve your goals?
I would appreciate the union’s support in promoting my initiatives, providing resources, and collaborating on projects that benefit the community. Together we can make a meaningful impact and achieve our goals.
13. In one sentence, what is your ultimate goal as Miss Efon? What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
My ultimate goal as Miss Efon is to empower and inspire the youth of Efon Alaaye.
