All roads are leading to Ilupeju Ekiti today, September 18, 2025, as the Majority Obas of Ekiti Land (MOBEL) gather for their general meeting. The gathering, being hosted by His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday David Awe Akingbade, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, is expected to draw about 100 traditional rulers from across the state, comprising Grade A, B, and C obas.
Notably, Pelupelu Obas, including the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Elekoke of Ikole Ekiti, and others, will not be in attendance. The meeting, presided over by His Royal Majesty, Oba Joachim Ajibola Afolabi, the Ojurin of Ijurin Ekiti, will focus on key issues such as security, unity, and development in Ekiti State, as well as the welfare of members.
This marks the first time the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti is hosting the meeting since his coronation on October 8, 2022. The Ekiti monarchs are expected to engage in incisive and productive deliberations.
