Ado-Central LCDA Takes Step Towards Addressing Water Scarcity with Solar-Powered Borehole Bid

The Ado Central Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ado Ekiti has opened bidding for the construction of a solar-powered borehole to address the acute water shortage in Ekute quarters. The bidding exercise, held at Dr. Olayinka Oyebanji Multi-purpose Hall, saw representatives from three companies: Walex Global Concept Venture, OKOMU, and IPA & Ifebuchiv Global Resources Limited.

Chairman of the Council and Tender Board, Engr. Toyin Ojo, emphasized the need for transparency in the bidding process, assuring contractors that this principle would guide the selection of the winning bid. The project was prompted by residents’ complaints about water scarcity, and Ojo appreciated the Ekiti State Governor for expediting approval for the proposal.

The Director of Procurement, Mrs. Olufunke Adeleye, reiterated the council’s commitment to a transparent process. Chief Femi Aluko of Walex Global Concept Ventures expressed satisfaction with the exercise’s transparency and promised that the winning contractor would deliver high-quality work.

This initiative aligns with efforts to enhance access to clean water, a pressing issue globally. According to the HYPPADEC, 2.1 billion people worldwide lack access to clean water, and millions die annually from water-borne diseases. Solar-powered boreholes offer a sustainable solution, especially in developing regions.
