A powerful conference was held at Koltotel Hotel & Suites in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, May 6, 2024, advocating for increased women’s representation in politics through the Reserved Seats Bill. The event, organized by Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF) in collaboration with the Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs, brought together key stakeholders from various sectors.
The conference featured inspiring speeches and panel discussions, highlighting the importance of unity, advocacy, and empowerment in promoting gender inclusion. UN Representative Mrs. Beatrice Eyong shared global success stories, while Mr. Nelson Akerele, BIGIF Ekiti Coordinator, emphasized the need to rewrite the gender imbalance in governance.
The event culminated in the signing of the HeForShe campaign, demonstrating solidarity among participants in promoting women’s participation in politics. The conference was attended by notable dignitaries, including Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, and Hon. Peju Babafemi, among others.
